SUMMER RULES ARE IN EFFECT
In April 2013 the Sheridan Park Golf Club Board voted unanimously to repeal the Local Rule that previously allowed Club Members to play “Winter Rules” (preferred lies) year round.

Effective immediately, the Club will only play “Winter Rules” on days that the Town deems the course to be in such poor condition that they do not allow carts on the course. In all other circumstances, we will use the standard rules of golf.

That means no touching the ball (other than to identify it), no moving or rolling it, no cleaning it until you reach the green, etc. You can of course take relief from embedded balls. If you’re unsure, simply consult the Official USGA Rule Book.

The Board did add a new Local Rule for balls in a divot. If your ball is in a divot in the fairway of the hole you are playing and your playing partner agrees that it’s in a divot, you can mark the ball, lift (but not clean it), and take a shoulder-high drop as close as possible to the original spot – no nearer the hole. If it roles back into the divot you can repeat until you have relief.
